Match
Match is used to start a fire. It is a stick usually made in wood with an end covered with an inflamable material that can be ignited by stricking on a rough surface. The friction match, was invented on 1827 by John Walker, an English chemist, and during the next years was perfectionated in order to make it safer, practical and useful.

Why I think match is an example of good design
- Essential design: there are exactly the elements that you need to use it
- Linear design: it is used the exact quantity of material reducing the waste at minimum
- Size: small object, pocket and light
- Easy to understand where is the inflamable area because the head is coloured and made in another material
- Material: made in wood that is as strenght as inflamable material and it leds enough time to use it without burning the fingers
- Not dangeours itself: it needs to strick it on a rough surface in order to create the ignition
- Because of the lenght it is perfect to light something difficult to reach, for example a boiler, a gas burner or camping stove
- After light a match it is possible to move it, in fact it is not necessary to hold it like a lighter. For this reason it is perfect to light a wood stove or a fireplace.
